CBA donates Kshs. 2million to Zawadi Africa Educational Fund


On Wednesday 12 th October 2016, Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) donated Sh2million as part of a 5-year sponsorship to the Zawadi Africa Educational Fund. The fund is a leadership development program that provides university scholarships and leadership development and life-skills training for academically gifted but financially disadvantaged African girls, with the objective of developing a pipeline of young African women leaders.

The donation will cater to transport to the girls for whom the fund has secured scholarship opportunities to various universities. In addition, to the sponsorship CBA is offering job opportunities to the girls once they have graduated.

The Zawadi Africa Educational Fund has delivered outstanding results in the last 14 years. The program has over 350 girls on full scholarships at 80 top colleges and universities in the US, Canada, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda and South Africa including Yale University, MIT, Harvard University, University of Cape Town (South Africa), Kwame Nkuruma University (Ghana), Makerere University (Uganda) and JKUAT and USIU (Kenya).
