The 2016 CBA Diani Charity Goat Derby

The 17th Diani Charity Goat Derby organized by The East Africa Women's League, South Coast Branch happened on Sunday 16th October 2016. The colourful event was held at Leisure Golf Club as a fun family day attracting supporters from across East Africa.

The Charity Goat Derby has had CBA as a continuous main sponsor and official banking partner since 2011. The bank not only provides financial support for the charity event but CBA staff ceaselessly take time to participate as well.

There were 10 goat races throughout the afternoon, where the goats, which are the stars of the day, run a circular racetrack in front of excited owners and cheering spectators. There was a fashion show for the best dressed lady and gentleman. This also included best hat and children fancy dress competitions.

A small Concours D'Elegance parade took place with elegant vintage cars making a drive through. We also had spectacular parachuting by the Diani Sky Divers. Chris Pasha, the CBA Group Head of Marketing also made the jump while clung to a sky diver arriving safely on the ground to a great applause.

A total of Shs.1.6 million was raised at the charity event. Eight charities benefit from the funds raised each year. These include: Diani/Ukunda Epilepsy Clinic, Kwale District Eye Centre, Cancer Hospices and Pallative Care Centre, Women's Self Help Groups, Children's Feeding Programmes, Numuyumba Primary School–Special Needs Unit and the Kenya Society for the Protection and Care for Animals (KSPCA).
